Award winning studentsThree Utica High seniors have earned their school a Top 10 national finish in the School-based Enterprise – Retail Operations competition held at the DECA International Career Development Conference on April 23 – 26, 2017 in Atlanta, GA.

The seniors, Alyssia Johnson, Grant Freestone, Hannah Kaupplia, competed against 200 school stores from across the country.

The students were invited to participate in the competition at the annual conference after a 50-page application they co-wrote in February earned a National Gold Certification for the Chief Connection, Utica High’s school store.

This is the 10th consecutive year the Chief Connection has earned National Gold Certification status.  The store’s advisor is marketing teacher Dana Boice.

In addition to the competition, the conference allowed the students to experience professional development sessions and networking with other School-based Enterprises during the conference.
