  • Utica High School has been recognized by  Newsweek Magazine as one of America’s Best High Schools and one of the state's most academically challenging by the Washington Post
  • GraduationThe Class of 2017 earned many outstanding awards and accomplishments: 31 valedictorians, 5 salutatorians, an average ACT score of 23.9 - three points higher than the average score in the state of Michigan - and collectively took over 500 Advanced Placement exams - witha  passing rate of over 60% which translates into 1500 college credits - and earned $4 million in scholarships.
  • Three Utica High School medical careers students have earned top national honors in a competition focused on the future of health care. Brittney Hall, Mitchell Fraser and Rana Noori earned national recognition at the first HOSA: Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference in Nashville Tennessee in late June.
  • The Chieftain Connection, a School-based enterprise at Utica High School, was named one of the top ten school stores in the nation this year and top 20 for six straight years at the Annual DECA International Career Development Conference.

 

  • Mary Keta and Paul Kent were honored as being among the the top one percent of high school seniors in the National Merit Scholarship program. Only 16,000 seniors nationally are named National Merit semifinalists.

    In 2017, the Utica High Arrow Newspaper and Warrior Yearbook were amongst the most decorated student publications in the state earning honors in yearbook design, print news, and online news and 50 individual student awards.  Principal Thomas Lietz was named MIPA Administrator of the Year.
  • Utica Seniors completed over 10,000 hours of community service as a pert of the UHS Senior Project.

  • Seniors Gurjiwan Chahal and Elena Catallo were admitted to West Point Academy and the Air Force Academy, respectively.  
  • For the third straight year, Utica High School and Utica Community Schools have been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the nation. UCS has been honored for its overall support and commitment to music education by the California-based National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).
