Two Utica High juniors have earned their school a Top 10 national finish in the School-based Enterprise – Retail Operations competition held at the DECA International Career Development Conference on April 21-24 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The seniors, Kendall Avis and Jacob Joseph , competed against 220 school stores from across the country.

Avis and Joseph were invited to participate in the competition at the annual conference after a 25-page manual they co-wrote in February earned a National Gold Certification for the Chief Connection, Utica High’s school store.

This is the seventh consecutive year the Chief Connection has earned National Gold Certification status.  The store’s advisor is marketing teacher Dana Boice.

In addition to the competition, the conference allowed the students to experience professional development sessions and networking with other School-based Enterprises during the conference.
